I counsel high-net-worth individuals, multi-jurisdictional families, closely-held businesses, and fiduciaries on U.S. and international tax, wealth management, and estate and trust planning. This includes strategic planning related to income and transfer taxation, pre-immigration tax planning, U.S. and non-U.S. trusts, tax-efficient cross-border investment structures, structuring foreign and domestic investment in U.S. real estate and operating companies, and developing wealth transfer structures for multinational families. I also advise on tax reporting, tax regularization, and Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and Common Reporting Standard (CRS) compliance.
I have experience in cross-border planning for international families and represents individuals seeking to establish domestic and foreign trusts or other structures to benefit family in the United States and beyond. I regularly advise clients with multi-jurisdictional wealth structuring, geared toward global tax efficiency and achieving non-tax goals such as confidentiality and asset protection. Additionally, I advise clients on issues related to pre-immigration planning, expatriation, global mobility (transferring executives or obtaining additional passports), and premarital planning.
Prior to joining Berkowitz, Trager & Trager, I worked for international law firms based in New York and resided and maintained a broad-based private client practice in Zurich, Switzerland.
